THE DIFFERENCE

Bega Valley Pasture-Fed Chicken offers an alternative farming model, where once the chickens are old enough to leave the heated brooder, they are transported to mobile pasture shelters and moved to a fresh patch of nutrient-dense grass every day. Our chickens are housed in a low stress environment with a maximum of 250 chickens in the brooder and only 85 chickens in the mobile pasture shelters.

This is compared to conventional chicken farming models; where around 40 000 chickens are housed inside a fixed shed.  Bega Valley Pasture-Fed Chickens will eat more nutrient-dense grass than any other farming model, including free-range and organic, which are typically housed in a fixed shed with access to an outside area where they may not choose to venture, and pasture availability is often limited.

Unlike conventional, mechanised processing, Bega Valley Pasture-Fed Chickens are processed by hand, which is a less stressful, cleaner and chemical-free way of processing. The chickens are air-chilled, which means they avoid contaminated, chlorine baths that occur in conventional, automated processing. You will experience the benefits of hand processing in the tenderness of the chicken meat, with the natural juices retained.
